Volunteer Opportunities

The Center has a wonderful core group of volunteers. They are an indispensable part of the Center and perform many vital tasks that supplement and enhance the work of the Center's small professional staff. Volunteers act as hosts/hostesses, instructors, librarians, Eating Together in Baltimore service assistants, receptionists, members of the House Council, etc. Volunteers may work as many hours as they wish and are honored every year at a Volunteer Recognition Ceremony.

  • Eating Together in Baltimore: Assists with the lunch program by serving lunches, taking inventory, wrapping silverware, cleaning up and registering members each day. An average of ten volunteers participates in the daily lunch program.

  • Reception Desk: Responsible for answering telephones, registering new members, signing-in participants each day and greeting Center guests.

  • Activity/Trip Volunteer: Assists the Program Coordinator in planning and implementing programs, parties and trips. Acts as an escort or group leader.

  • Senior Sunday Program: Assist with setting up, brunch preparation, selling raffles and registering members.

  • Library Volunteers: Responsible for organizing lending library and assisting members with checking out materials.

  • House Council: The objective of the House Council is to recommend and implement proposals for the betterment of he membership and the Center. The House Council is made up of twenty-one voting members, all of whom have been members of the Center for at least six months. The Council meets monthly.
